Meanwhile, my longtime fishing buddy, Ron Ballanti, could do no wrong. Each live sardine he cast resulted in a hookup. I had been hooking them through the nose, making the sardines want to swim back to the boat as soon as they hit the water. Hooking the live fish bait in the breastplate made them want to swim down and away, and that was the secret to getting bit. I followed suit, and the next bait I cast was inhaled by a yellowfin. To find out the secrets of bait behavior, I talked with veteran captains in the Northeast, South Florida, the northern Gulf and Southern California.

The usual configurations allow 5, 8, 16, or 32 connections to a single satellite dish. If a DVR was used, two dedicated lines would have to be sent from the dish into the home. Most satellite dishes could only directly send a maximum of 4 dedicated lines. The SWM eliminated the extra bulk by making it possible to send a single designated line into the hardware and successfully splitting it into as many signals as needed. Having a single line installed into the home and needing extra lines for multiple receivers or a DVR is one of the major problems.

Oct 18, Photo: Jason Sealock I have been experimenting more this year with different swimbaits outside my normal go-to baits and along with that I’ve been playing with just about every head and hook on the market. One hook I’ve used recently with a lot of success that I seem to have tied on all the time now is the Lazer Trokar Swim Blade.

The Swim Blade is made like your ordinary screw lock weighted swimbait hook, but it’s design allows for a blade to be added on the under belly, giving you both a strong swimbait hook and the characteristics of an underspin. It also features a crimped wire and a double swivel and hammered silver willow blade so the added flash is tucked up under the belly of the bait, further drawing bass in to the swimbait.

I’ve had a few nice bass and watched a bunch of others get caught sharing the boat with some good anglers this fall. Tucks under the chin and belly well, and the length of the wire puts the blade just behind the belly of most 5 inch swimbaits. That location lets the blade swim freely on the retrieve. Even with both fast and slow retrieves, the blade turns on its double swivel.

The shape of the weighted keel on the hook puts a bit of a ramp guard in front of the harness to keep grass or rock from fouling or compromising the connection of the rig as you fish it. The wire is strong and the components on the wire will hold it all together well without worry of a bass pulling it off on a short strike at the blade. It’s a bit lighter wire.

You can open it up a bit to get a little better bite on the swimbait.

B Back shot – back shot can be the piece of shot placed up the line behind a sliding leger or feeder or is a piece of shot placed on the line behind a float to help keep it steady in windy conditions. The piece of shot is placed about a foot away from the float tip and is usually a piece of shot from the float rig so it doesn’t sink Back cast – the casting of line in a direction opposite to the direction the fly is intended to go.

The backward counterpart of the forward cast which acts to create a bending action on the fly rod, setting up the conditions to generate the forward cast and present the fly. Backing line – old line or string padding that is attached to a reel to fill up the spool before attaching the line Backwater – an area of a river that is sometimes isolated Bagging up – catching lots of fish during a fishing session Bag limit – fishery restriction in the number of fish that an angler may retain, on a per trip or daily basis.

Generally pertaining to trout.. Also known as Creel limit Bail arm – the wire part of a fixed-spool reel that guides the line on the spool Bait – anything used on the hook to entice and capture the fish Bait band – used with boilies and pellets etc. A small elastic band that is wrapped around a bait and the hook is passed under the band or nicked through it so that the bait hangs from the side or the base of the hook.

Bait bands are available in a variety of sizes to suit different sized baits Bait boat – remote controlled boat used mainly for carp fishing by carp anglers or by specialist anglers to place both their baited rig and loose feed, such as boilies, accurately at distances unachievable by casting Bait box – used for carrying your bait such as maggots Bait-clip – a clip that holds the baited hook during the cast Bait dropper – a device used to put hookbait samples down to the bottom of your swim.

It is basically a cage with a door on the side held closed with a latch. When lowered down to the bottom the latch is pushed up and opens the cage door letting the bait fall out Bait fish – any fish that is of primary prey to a larger fish Bait needle – a needle that has had one side of the eye removed making a small hook.

Hooking a minnow this way lets it swim naturally when being pulled through the water. Because the hook will turn point up, this will let the minnow swim upright. Hooking a minnow through the lips will prevent water from entering its mouth and exiting its gills, causing it to eventually die. Check live minnows hooked this way often and replace them when they show signs of dying.

Hooking a minnow through the back, just behind its dorsal fin, lets it swim more naturally when rigged under a sinker to keep it under the water and a bobber about 18 inches 45 cm ahead of the minnow to keep it from going down too far.

It only takes a few steps to set up your Garmin device for Garmin Connect.

A reason not unrelated to she and I living on opposite ends of California, and all the physical limitations associated with that. She was all mine now, though…in my filthy paws at last… But then: Less romantic that way. You know—blazing lights, fat slob of a director in the room, black dude with a fat cock.

She sniggered here, held up a single finger. While I was in Paris.

Welcome to Hook Set Tackle

Well, yes they do, but swim bait is another word for “shad” baits or soft plastics that look like imitation fish. Swim baits are used in fresh or saltwater and range in size from one-inch or up to nine and 12 inches for stripers, tuna and other offshore game fish. The paddle tail is what gives these baits their action and size of tail varies depending on the brand.

MINNOWS – How you hook live minnows depends upon how you are going to fish you are fishing a minnow to troll (drag the bait) or repeatedly cast and retrieve it, hook the minnow through the upper and lower lips with the hook point up so that the minnow will “swim” naturally.

The action is slow. The bites are going to come far less often than they would with a conventional bass lure and it can be hard not to pick up another rod. But if you want a great shot at a trophy bass then you need to stay committed.

Winterization also requires you to disconnect the hoses for the pool, pump and filter. Once the winter is over, and the outdoor temperatures begin to rise, it is time to reopen the pool for the summer. Trying to remember where each of the three hoses attach to your filter, pool and pump can quickly spell disaster if you mix up the connections. Correctly hook up your sand filter and pump to your above-ground pool for hours of summer fun. Make sure to locate it near the skimmer and return on your pool.

Ensure the ground is level beneath the pump and filer. Place the pump and filter on concrete blocks for additional stability.
